Laser hair removal treatment leaves client with facial burns

Mrs V was 48 years old when she attended the Sk:n Clinic, Canary Wharf, London to discuss undergoing laser hair removal treatment to her chin and lip.

She underwent a patch test and then a second patch test around two weeks later as she had recently been on holiday and had a sun tan.

Her course of laser hair treatment started three weeks later.  During the session Mrs V noted she could smell burning.  When she asked the practitioner what the smell was the practitioner said she should they should stop the treatment.

Mrs V was horrified to find she had sustained burns to the side of her mouth and chin.  These went on to scar.

Jennifer Waight was instructed by Mrs V to bring a claim for damages.  Jennifer arranged for Mrs V to be seen by a plastic surgeon expert who noted she had suffered partial thickness burns to her face which are permanent with no treatment available to improve this cosmetically.

Jennifer went on to successfully negotiate an out-of-court settlement of £5,000 to compensate the claimant for their pain and suffering.

Jennifer specialises in cosmetic and facial injury cases.  If you would like to ask Jennifer a question about a potential case, or if you have a general query about any personal injury, contact Jennifer at Thomson Snell & Passmore solicitors on 01892 701374 in confidence.
