New charity established - TS&P were pleased to help the Girasol Foundation obtain charity registration. The Foundation has been formed to develop and deliver programmes for primary school children aimed at the prevention of future addictions be it to drugs, alcohol, gambling, slimming etc. The programmes are designed to be wholly compatible with the UK educational requirements for primary school children and suitable for teacher and parent involvement and participation and will be delivered
through the PSHE curriculum.

The aim of these programmes is to develop and nurture a broad range of life skills including self-confidence, responsibility and self esteem in order to attempt to address the recognised common characteristics of addicts which include lack of emotional self knowledge, lack of confidence, lack of focus and lack of structure and life projects. The techniques used include age-group relevant storytelling, group exercises, relaxation techniques, painting and modelling, music and role play.

The Girasol Foundation is a UK registered Charity No. 1114227, currently funded and run entirely by volunteers. 100% of all funds donated will be used to fund the work of The Girasol Foundation. For further information please contact John Morris at john@ectele.com telephone or 0208 875 1136.

Incorporation of Child Brain Injury Trust (CBIT) - The trustees were concerned at the possibility of personal liability and asked TS&P to advise on incorporation. TS&P arranged for a new charitable company to be registered and take over CBIT's activities. The Child Brain Injury Trust (CBIT) is a UK wide charity offering support and information about acquired brain injury in children. CBIT provides information, support and training to families and professionals. An acquired brain injury is often referred to as a hidden disability, and often goes unrecognised. This inevitably leads to problems for a child in terms of education, provision of care and support. Families often become the experts in their child's care with no formal qualification and no experience. CBIT is working to change this and ensure that professionals recognise the impact and understand the issues.
