Hair dye claim settlement - from the TS&P case book

Alison Sharkey has recovered £40,000.00 in an out of court settlement by insurers for injuries caused by a botched hair dying episode at her local hairdressing salon in Cumbria. Alison’s story has featured in a number of national publications including the Daily Mirror. Alison went to the salon but despite having already suffered an allergic reaction the hair dresser (mistakenly believing this was caused by peroxide) applied further testing of a hair dye product. Alison suffered badly and now has to avoid wearing dark clothes as she has cross reactivity to dyes especially black. Alison’s case was pursued by way of “No win no fee funding” and Alison received her damages/compensation in full. Alison’s was an unusually severe case as in most other hair dye reaction cases there is a swelling of the head and after a course of steroids a return to normal usually in about 3 months.
