Lawyers walk in circles for Charity

Staff from leading regional law firm Thomson Snell & Passmore recently completed a twelve hour walk on the picturesque Tunbridge Wells Circular Walk route.

Some 53 people undertook the sponsored walk along the 271/2 mile route which raised £10,279 for Demelza Hospice Care for Children. Demelza is the only residential children's hospice providing care in East Sussex, Kent and South London, and supports children with life-limiting conditions and their families. Demelza needs to raise £3.5 million this year just to maintain existing services to some 450 families both at the hospice and at home. It currently receives no central government funding.

Partner and Head of Thomson Snell & Passmore's Thames Gateway office, Kamal Aggarwal, commented: "As part of our Social Responsibility programme Demelza will benefit from all our charitable efforts this year as well as in 2007. They undertake immensely valuable work providing the necessary short breaks and a range of services benefiting the children and young people themselves and their wider family, which are simply not available elsewhere. Under Demelza's Adopt a Carer scheme all moneys raised by Thomson Snell & Passmore will go directly to paying the salary of a Carer at Demelza. We feel privileged and humbled to have walked today on their behalf."

On hand to congratulate the walkers on the day were the Mayor and Mayoress of Tunbridge Wells, Cllr Ron and Mrs Barbara Weeden and Richard Punyer from Demelza.
