01/06/2009
Martin Terrell, Partner at leading South East law firm Thomson Snell & Passmore today celebrates the launch of his new book - 'A Practitioner's Guide to the Court of Protection' - at an event held at The Law Society.

Hosted by Thomson Snell & Passmore, the launch marks the publication of the third edition of this work by Martin Terrell. Martin Terrell is a well known author in the field and has considerable expertise in Court of Protection matters and specialises in probate and elderly client work. He is also joint vice chairman of Solicitors for the Elderly and a member of the Society of Trust & Estate Practitioners.
The Practitioner's Guide to the Court of Protection has been rewritten to reflect the radical overhaul of this area of law following the implementation of the Mental Capacity Act 2005. This includes the separation of roles between the Court of Protection and the Public Guardian, the complex rules and procedures under which Court operates and the introduction of lasting powers of attorney. It is the only complete work by a single author on this vitally important area of law.
Guests at the event include judges of the Court of Protection and leading barristers, solicitors and case managers, including Public Guardian , Martin John.
In his introduction to the book, Senior Judge Denzil Lush said:
"Martin has devoted much of his time to this book which will be of significant help to fellow professionals. He deserves our congratulations on the completion of this significant undertaking."
Martin Terrell, Partner at Thomson Snell & Passmore, said:
"I am delighted to celebrate the launch of the new book in the presence of Judges, Public Guardian officials and colleagues. I have had a lot of positive feedback from solicitors and students alike who have found my book useful and I hope this edition continues to help more people in their studies and careers. I must thank my colleagues in the Private Client department for their expertise and help with the book".
