11/09/2009
Thomson Snell & Passmore has won the ‘Most Dedicated Corporate Team 2009' award at this year's EllenorLions Hospices Corporate Summer Ball.
Each year EllenorLions Hospices hosts a Corporate Summer Ball where it celebrates the 880 businesses that support the charity and awards three corporate partners for dedicating time and energy to raising money for the hospice. This year the ‘Most Dedicated Corporate Team 2009' award was given to Thomson Snell & Passmore for supporting EllenorLions staff and that individuals and teams in the firm have driven ideas forward and have gone that extra mile.
This year Thomson Snell & Passmore undertook a sponsored walk which saw teams of walkers start from the firm's offices in Tunbridge Wells and Thames Gateway and meeting in the middle in Sevenoaks. The 35 participants walked a combined total of more than 500 miles. Staff also raced again in a Chinese-style dragon boat at the Dragon Boat Festival at Bewl Water to raise further money for the hospice. In total, Thomson Snell & Passmore has raised more than £6,000 for EllenorLions Hospices.
EllenorLions Hospices are based in Northfleet and care for around 2,500 families every year. In December 2008 EllenorLions Hospices had to take the drastic action of launching an emergency appeal for fund as hospice care was at risk because of a £200,000 shortfall in funding. Through the support of the community this shortfall has now been raised however the hospice still needs further support to care for both patients and their families.
Senior Partner James Partridge said:
“It is a delight to have been given this award by EllenorLions Hospices in recognition for the contribution out staff have made during the year. The hospices do vitally important work in caring for those people with progressive and life threatening illnesses and their families. Without such establishments many local people would struggle to cope with debilitating illnesses and we are pleased to have helped in any way we can.”
Linda Trew, PR and Partnership Manager at EllenorLions Hospices said:
“EllenorLions Hospice is so grateful for all the funding we receive from local businesses and it is our hope that we can develop long standing relationships with those that support the charity. It is great to be able to celebrate with those companies that have gone the extra mile and Thomson Snell & Passmore were clear winners for this award this year. With a shaving of a beard, Easter Egg hunt, baby guessing competition, sponsored walk and dragon boat race there was no doubt in our minds that Thomson Snell & Passmore should receive the award.”
