01/07/2010
Thomson Snell & Passmore is advising charity client, The Children's Trust, Tadworth in relation to its continued expansion into Kent by acting in connection with leasing retail premises across the county.
The Children's Trust, Tadworth is a national charity providing care, education, therapy and rehabilitation to children with multiple disabilities, complex health needs and acquired brain injury. The Trust works with children from across Kent and all over the UK. Their services include residential care and therapy, residential and community based rehabilitation, special needs education and hospice/palliative care.
The Children's Trust’s funding comes from a wide range of sources but includes income derived from charity shops. The Children's Trust made a decision to expand its charity shop network with a view to not only increasing income but raising awareness across a wider area.
Thomson Snell & Passmore have advised The Children's Trust in connection with this expansion into Kent and South London over the past year and a half and are delighted to have been involved in the most recent acquisition in Tunbridge Wells. Previous acquisitions include Sevenoaks, Tonbridge, Maidstone and Orpington and there are more to come.
The team at Thomson Snell & Passmore is led by Commercial Property Partner, Richard Ellard who is assisted by Owen Walsh. Richard said:
"Thomson Snell & Passmore is delighted to have been asked to advise The Children's Trust in connection with its expansion into Kent. Not only will the new shops provide additional income but will also raise awareness of the work that the charity undertakes. We are especially delighted to have The Children's Trust coming to Tunbridge Wells. I hope in the next few weeks we will secure further premises on behalf of the Trust so that the expansion can continue and the good work of the Trust can be advanced."
Thomson Snell & Passmore has one of the largest team of lawyers advising both landlords and tenants in connection with property portfolio acquisition, management and disposal in the South East of England.
Roy Greenslade, who is leading The Trust’s retail expansion in Kent, commented:
"I am glad to be working with Thomson Snell & Passmore in connection with the Trust's expansion into Kent. Richard and Owen not only provide excellent technical and commercial support, but also have an invaluable knowledge of the local commercial property market. The Children's Trust's expansion into Kent will enable the charity to continue and enhance the good work that it has done changing the lives of disabled children over the last 25 years."
