01/12/2011
The General Medical Council (GMC) full hearing into the conduct of Dr David Bruce Jackson is now underway by the Fitness to Practice panel.
Specialist clinical negligence lawyers at Thomson Snell & Passmore are continuing to investigate potential medical negligence claims on behalf of patients treated by Dr Jackson between 1989 and 2007. He treated patients across four hospitals in the South East, both private and NHS – Queen Victoria Memorial Hospital, East Grinstead, West Sussex, Kent and Canterbury Hospital, Canterbury, The Queen Elizabeth and Queen Mother Hospital, Margate and the BMI Chaucer Hospital, also in Canterbury, Kent.
Dr Jackson faces 75 allegations of inappropriate and potentially negligent treatment, involving 16 patients. In June last year, Dr Jackson appealed to have his name voluntarily removed from the medical register, claiming that he was unwell. This appeal was rejected by the GMC who advised he should face a full hearing.
Thomson Snell & Passmore, led by Fiona Mills and Patricia Fearnley have assisted patients with GMC complaints and are representing a number of patients in medical negligence claim against the struck off doctor. These include cases of botched mastectomy surgery and a failure to diagnose colon cancer.
The Telegraph are also continuing to cover the case, following their report in June last year. Further details of the hearing will follow shortly.
