Martin Terrell is appointed as new Court of Protection panel deputy

Partner Martin Terrell has been appointed as new Court of Protection panel deputy.

A new panel of independent professional deputies has been established by the Public Guardian so that the Court of Protection can appoint a suitable person to act where there is no one else available. This is not just to cover situations where there is no family member to take on this responsibility, but also cases where there is family conflict or financial abuse as well as those cases where the complexity of the case goes beyond what relatives are able or willing to deal with.

The panel provides the Court with the names of 64 experienced to cover the whole of England and Wales. All members of the panel have been carefully selected from over 600 applicants, following a detailed tendering exercise.

Martin Terrell is the only panel deputy in West Kent and his appointment reflects his personal experience and commitment to this area of work as well as the strength of the Court of Protection team at the firm.
