MoD settle further veterans claims but some still wait.
01/03/2010
In December 2008 the first set of claims were settled by the MoD for £3 million and apologies given in the House of Commons. Then 123 veteran claimants were subsequently offered a global offer of £1,024,859.00 divided equally among the 123 claimants. All accepted.
The Porton Down veteran Oxford University long term health studies (commissioned by the MoD in 2002 by the MoD) were recently published see "Notes to Editors" below.
A few more veteran claims were settled this month. Now only 20 or so claims remain outstanding for our clients and about 60-70 for Leigh Day & Co with whom we are working on the litigation.
"I really cannot understand why these remaining Claimants are being kept waiting including one 90 year old veteran who first contacted me 15+ years ago. Surely humanity counts for something. I do sincerely trust the MoD will do the decent thing as soon as possible" said Alan Care of Thomson Snell & Passmore.
