Thomson Snell & Passmore raises money for Kent Wildlife Trust

Saturday 13 September saw the firm take part in the eleventh annual Dragon Boat Festival at Bewl Water, Lamberhurst, Kent. The festival sees teams competing against each other in Chinese-style dragon boats to raise money for their chosen charity.

The law team competed against other local charity enthusiasts in the dragon boats over a 250 metre course, raising money for Kent Wildlife Trust. The festival has grown every year and now includes tented village, bands, celebrities and field events. Last year the event raised £214,000 for various charities and it is hoped the figure will surpass that this year.

2008 marks the 50th anniversary for Kent Wildlife Trust, which is the only charity working solely to protect Kent's threatened wildlife and countryside. Their Patron in this anniversary year is actress Joanna Lumley. Since their formation in 1958, some 7,500 acres of land across Kent have been acquired or taken into long term management as nature reserves.

Thomson Snell & Passmore has raised over £2,000 from the dragon boat festival which is added to over £7,250 raised for the Trust from previous fundraising activities including walking (carefully) across countryside protected by the Trust.

James Partridge, Senior Partner at Thomson Snell & Passmore, said:

“The Dragon Boat Festival is a fun way to raise money for the Kent Wildlife Trust whilst enjoying a great day out with colleagues, family and friends. The Trust is a very worthy cause and, as a firm which has been based in Kent for a very long time, we are keen to support the long-term survival of Kent's countryside and the wildlife which inhabits it. Without the foresight of Trust supporters many of these beautiful places would have been lost".
