Thomson Snell & Passmore Retains Excellent Rankings

Leading South East law firm Thomson Snell & Passmore has achieved outstanding rankings in this year’s Chambers & Partners and has an impressive 20 lawyers recognised as ‘Leaders in their Field’ – retaining its position as one of the region’s leading law firms. Chambers & Partners is one of the foremost independent guides to the legal profession and this year Thomson Snell & Passmore has maintained its strong reputation across all its practice areas.

This year Chambers & Partners has added new ranking criteria of client service – which the Clinical Negligence and Family teams have been recommended for –and commercial awareness – where the Dispute Resolution and Employment teams have been recommended.

Chambers & Partners is used by commercial and private clients, corporate counsel, CEOs, FDs and professional advisers – as well as by other referrers of work both nationally and internationally.

Tier One highlights: 

The Clinical Negligence team maintains its excellent tier one ranking and is described as "informative and personable" and providing a "very professional service". Partner and joint head of the team, Patricia Fearnley, is described as "thorough and approachable" and fellow Partner and joint head of the team Fiona Mills is praised for knowing “the right experts to instruct and is very good at client care". The team has also been recommended for client service.

Tier Two highlights:

This year, Thomson Snell & Passmore has eight tier two ranked teams. These include the Charities, Construction, Corporate/M&A, Employment, Family, Personal Injury, Private Client and Real Estate teams.

The Construction team is noted for its “clarity of communication, competence across the board and strong reputation for its handling of construction matters” and the Corporate/M&A team is described as "providing high-quality, concise advice". Partner Joanna Gallagher is praised for her "impressive negotiating ability and keen commercial nous”.

“Retaining its fantastic reputation” the Family team is headed by Partner Joanna Pratt who is described as being "honest, to the point and very helpful”. Partner Sarah Judd earns accolades for her ancillary relief and private law children expertise and Senior Associate Desmond O'Donnell is applauded as a "sensible and talented lawyer". The Family team has been recommended for client service.

“Invaluable” is how the Employment team’s advice and assistance is described. Partner and head of the practice Nick Hobden is praised for his "firm and highly competent" case handling and Partner Susanna Gilmartin is described as "proactive and the advice she provides is highly practical". The Employment team has been recommended for commercial awareness.

Other highlights include the Private Client team receiving praise for having one of the region’s leading Court of Protection and care for the vulnerable practices. The Real Estate team is particularly recommended for its work with local authorities. The Personal Injury team is described as “very personable and helpful”.

Partners Joanna Pratt, Kirstie Law and Senior Associate Desmond O’Donnell join Partner Sarah Judd as “Leaders in their field” bringing the total number in the Family team to four. Chris Kirby-Turner, a Senior Associate in the Construction team, joins head of the team Chris Whittington as a ‘Leader in their Field’ this year.
