Leading South East law firm Thomson Snell & Passmore has once again achieved fantastic rankings in the latest editions of The Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners – with an impressive 25 lawyers recognised by Chambers & Partners as “Leaders in their Field.”
Chambers & Partners and Legal 500 are the leading independent guides to the legal profession and this year Thomson Snell & Passmore has maintained its strong reputation across all its practice areas. The directories provide full, in-depth and comprehensive analysis of law firms across the UK and Thomson Snell & Passmore features prominently in the South-East categories of Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners. The directories are used by commercial and private clients, corporate counsel, CEOs, FDs and professional advisers – as well as by other referrers of work both nationally and internationally.
Band One highlights
This year in Chambers & Partners, the Clinical Negligence, Construction, Corporate/M&A and Personal Injury teams all maintain their impressive Band One ranking. Clinical Negligence Head of Department, Fiona Mills, is described as "an absolutely outstanding lawyer” while fellow Partner Patricia Fearnley is described by one commentator as “a star”. The Construction team is praised for its breadth of expertise: "The team has high-calibre people that are specialists in different spheres”, with Consultant Chris Whittington commended for his "fantastic attention to detail and excellent knowledge of contract law.”
Thomson Snell & Passmore also had five teams in the top tier of Legal 500. The Court of Protection team was newly listed in Band One and the Clinical Negligence, Employment, Personal Injury and Personal Tax, Trust and Probate teams all retained their top-tier status. The Clinical Negligence team is “exceptionally capable” with Partner Graham Bell described as “clever, focused and tenacious.” Partner and Head of Personal Injury team Jonathan Clement was noted for being “particularly good in the field of sports injuries”, while Head of the Personal Tax, Trust and Probate team Jeremy Passmore is commended as “a friendly professional” and“excellent technically.”
Band Two highlights
This year, Thomson Snell & Passmore has five Band Two ranked teams in Chambers & Partners. The Court of Protection team has risen in the ranks from Band Three while the Employment, Family, Real Estate and Real Estate Litigation teams have maintained their excellent Band Two ranking. Partner and Head of the Court of Protection team Eddie Fardell is recognised for his deputyship work, while clients of Partner Brian Bacon note that “he is efficient, polite and understanding.” The Real Estate Team is noted for its responsiveness. Team leader, Richard Ellard, is described as "very knowledgeable and very helpful."
In Legal 500, the Commercial Property team rose in the ranks from Band Three to Band Two while the Family team maintained its high ranking. Thomson Snell & Passmore is praised for being a “strong regional firm” and “consistently good” in dealing with property issues. The firm’s “very personal” Family team is known for being “always accessible” and “very knowledgeable”, with Partner Kirstie Law lauded as “utterly unflappable.”
Band Three highlights
The Agriculture and Rural Affairs team, the Litigation team and the Private Client team both achieved Band Three status in this year’s Chambers & Partners. Senior Associate in the Agriculture and Rural Affairs team Sue Lister is widely regarded by clients for her personable approach, and “is always striving to find practical solutions for clients' issues.” Clients of Litigation Partner Kamal say: "he is fantastic in litigation, very good at communicating with the client, very easy-going and professional, gets the work done and therefore clients have no complaints."
In Legal 500, the Agriculture & Estates, Charities & Not for Profit, Commercial Litigation, Construction, Corporate and Commercial, Environment and Property Litigation teams are all ranked in the third tier. The firm’s Commercial Litigation team is noted for its “good response time”, “value for money” and “efficient service”. Joanne Gallagher is praised as “very commercial”. Chris Whittington, Head of the Construction team, earns accolades for being “commercially realistic”, with “extensive experience.”
