  • Acting for insurers defending professional indemnity claims against firms of accountants, independent financial advisors and solicitors
  • Acting for a private individual in a claim against two firms of solicitors and a barrister involving loss of opportunity following the dismissal of an underlying action for negligent misrepresentation and/or breach of warranty  
  • Acting for private individuals in a claim against accountants arising from the receipt of deferred shares and the failure to make the appropriate election to HMRC, giving rise to additional CGT liabilities
  • Acting for private individuals in a claim against a firm of solicitors arising from the failure to notify HMRC of a Deed of Variation resulting in the failure of a tax-planning scheme
  • Acting for the joint liquidators of a group of companies against a firm of solicitors which had been dissolved
  • Acting for a commercial entity in a claim concerning the voidance of a credit insurance policy on the grounds of non-disclosure

James is a member of the Chartered Insurance Institute and the British Insurance Law Association.

Profile

James read law at the University of Birmingham where he graduated in 1998. He qualified with Hextalls and subsequently worked for Browne Jacobson, Herbert Smith and the Financial Ombudsman Service. He joined Thomson Snell & Passmore as an Associate in 2010.
