Gynaecology
We have extensive experience of claims arising out of failed gynaecology treatment.
We acted for hundreds of women who suffered harm as a result of negligent gynaecology by the disgraced Kent gynaecologist Rodney Ledward who was struck off the medical register in 1998.
Since then we have advised women in cases where there have been a cluster of cases against a particular gynaecologist.
We have advised clients who have had complications from procedures such as hysterectomy and a delay in diagnosis of gynaecological cancers, also in respect of complications following childbirth and incontinence being made worse by surgery.
Often the negligent gynaecology treatment can leave a woman with problems such as urinary and faecal incontinence, sexual and fertility problems. We understand that it can be difficult to discuss intimate and personal matters and we have several women in our team who are used to dealing with such matters sympathetically.
Examples of cases where we have succeeded in recovering damages:
- bowel damage due to a TVT procedure to treat incontinence
- ruptured ectopic pregnancy
- wound breakdown following hysterectomy
- ureter damage during hysterectomy
- unnecessary hysterectomy
- retained swabs
- delayed diagnosis of cervical cancer
- poorly performed colposuspension.
