Injuries caused by violent crime

If you are the victim of violent crime and have suffered mental or physical injuries you may be able to claim compensation from a government organisation known as the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority (CICA).

To be able to make a claim to this organisation there are certain criteria that have to be met and the compensation is calculated differently to a normal claim made in the Courts. For more information contact us or have a look at the CICA website.

Under this scheme legal costs cannot be recovered from the CICA. We can assist you with your application and will advise you carefully regarding the legal costs that would be deducted from any compensation you receive from the CICA.

However, it may be possible to sue the person that injured you personally if they would have the means to pay any compensation you were awarded. In those circumstances you would recover your legal costs in addition to your compensation.

For further information please contact one of the team. Alternatively please click here to complete a short enquiry form so we can assess your claim.
