Assisting with an application for an English Will to be recognised in the Courts of Hong Kong and Thailand

We have recently assisted the executors of an estate in conjunction with lawyers in Hong Kong and Thailand in proving an English Will in the Courts of both Hong Kong and Thailand.

A Will, intended to cover the worldwide estate, was made by a British National who was resident in England at the time of executing the Will.

In order to have the Will proved in the foreign Courts an affidavit from an appropriately qualified English lawyer was required confirming the formal validity of the Will in England.

We were able to advise on and supply such an affidavit after checking the relevant facts around the Will execution.  Working with the foreign lawyers, we were able to check the specific requirements for the foreign Courts and speedily assist the executors and foreign lawyers with getting the Will proved.
