Managing a family’s literary estate

The trust is complicated with international elements. The settlor was domiciled abroad and the author entered into several foreign publishing contracts. The trustees liaise with separate literary and media agents, the BBC, publishers and the family. There is international tax to manage and the trust also owns investments and artwork. Our role goes beyond normal administration, extending to developing the author’s brand, promoting international publication of their work in various forms, as well as stage and screen adaptation, encouraging a new audience, monitoring copyright and trademark infringements and taking action to protect these rights.
