Passenger’s foot & ankle crushed as taxi pulls away

Our specialist personal injury lawyer based at Thomson Snell & Passmore’s Tunbridge Wells and Dartford (Thames Gateway) offices, has secured £10,500 for a woman whose foot and ankle where crushed by a taxi.

The claimant in this personal injury claim was a 68 year old woman who had been shopping with her son at the Hempstead Valley Shopping Centre, Gillingham when she called for a taxi to take them home.

A taxi arrived and as the claimant got into the backseat behind the driver, the taxi driver pulled away. The claimant had not put her right foot into the taxi and the door was still wide open causing her foot to become caught between the wheel and the taxi. Her right foot and ankle was crushed and twisted inwards.

She was diagnosed with torn ligaments and had bruising and grazing on her ankle. The bruising reached the toes and the underside of her foot. As a result she was unable to walk for some weeks and had to undergo physiotherapy. Her pre-existing back problem was also aggravated by this accident.

The team acting for the claimant was able to negotiate a settlement of £10,500 for the claimant to compensate her for her pain and suffering.
