  • Overview

    As part of the Government’s help packages to support small businesses and especially those in the Retail, Hospitality and Leisure industries it is offering grants to be delivered by Local Authorities.

    • Eligible businesses in England with a rateable vale of less than £51,000 on 11 March 2020 will qualify for cash grants of £10,000 or £25,000 per property.
    • Those with a rateable value up to £15,000 will receive a grant of £10,000.
    • Those with a rateable value between £15,000 and £51,000 will receive a grant of £25,000.
    • Those over £51,000 and non-ratepayers are not eligible.
    • Exclusions:
      • Properties occupied for personal use;
      • Car parks or parking spaces;
      • Businesses that as of 11 March were in liquidation or dissolved;
      • If you are a recipient of the Small Business Grant.
    • The ratepayer will be the eligible recipient as of 11 March 2020. If the Local Authority believes that the information they hold is inaccurate they may withhold or recover the grant.
    • The ratepayer will be required to sign a declaration that the business was not in difficulty on 31 December 2019. This carries several different meanings and the definition should be checked before completing the declaration.
