Managing a personal injury settlement on behalf of a child

The client was likely to be able to make decisions like anyone else on becoming an adult but in the meantime the substantial sum paid in settlement of the personal injury claim had to be looked after and spent on her behalf. Two of our partners were appointed as trustees alongside our client’s parents. Stuart Goodbody and his team managed the administration on their behalf . Our professional trustees worked closely with the parents to organise the purchase and adaptation of a new home for the family and to put in place a care regime and therapeutic strategies for our client.  We also helped the parents to select suitable financial advisers and establish an investment strategy. Our extensive knowledge of personal injury work and experience with disabled clients was invaluable to this process
