Clare Morison

Clare specialises in both estate and tax planning and charity law. She works within the Wills, Estates and Tax Planning Team but is also a member of the firm’s Charity Sector Team.

Clare provides advice to charity clients on a broad range of charity law matters. These include the establishment of new charities, the incorporation of unincorporated charities, the merging of charities and the winding up of charities. She also provides advice on governance issues and liaises with the Charity Commission on behalf of her charity clients.

Clare also provides estate planning advice for individuals and families including advising on Wills and Lasting Powers of Attorney and providing tax advice.

Clare specialises in providing advice, including tax advice, to individuals with international elements to their estates. This includes advice on residence and domicile and how to deal with assets in multiple jurisdictions. She also advises clients on how to structure their charitable giving.

Education

Clare studied Law with American Law (LLB) at Nottingham University and the University of Texas, Austin. She also completed the Legal Practice Course at Nottingham Law School.

Clare trained at City firm McDermott, Will & Emery and qualified as a solicitor in 2008. She then spent over five years at the firm where her practice focussed on advising high net worth and ultra-high net worth clients on all areas of estate and tax planning.

Clare joined Thomson Snell & Passmore in April 2014 and became a partner in June 2022.
