Gavin Allard

Gavin has specialised in clinical negligence litigation since joining Thomson Snell & Passmore in 2014.

Gavin completed his LLB Law Degree at the University of Plymouth. He went on to study the Bar Professional Training Course at City Law School, obtaining a post graduate diploma. He was called to the Bar at the Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn in 2012. He joined Thomson Snell & Passmore in 2014 and, after several years of running his own caseload, qualified as a Legal Executive in 2021.

Gavin enjoys following an array of sports and is learning German.

  • Gavin has significant experience of dealing with many areas of personal injury including:
  • Accidents at work, including workplace assault claims (employers’ liability)
  • Accidents in public places, including shops and airports and highway tripping cases (public liability)
  • Road traffic accidents resulting in serious injury and/or death.
  • Recent clinical negligence cases have included:
  • Negligent surgical treatment including hernia repair and thyroidectomy
  • Cardiac arrest following surgery
  • Delay in treatment of life threatening conditions including delay in diagnosis of perforated bowel leading to sepsis
  • Missed shoulder fracture
  • Negligently placing a name band round an ankle causing a tourniquet effect.

Achievements & other appointments

In his spare time, Gavin is committed to helping his local Citizens Advice Bureau having trained as a Full Advisor. He is now Acting Chair and Head of Research and Campaigns at Trustee board level.

Education
