Gavin acted for a claimant who sustained injury to his hip and dominant hand as a result of being knocked over when walking across the road. Due to the claimant being elderly, the injuries had a huge impact on his ability to undertake tasks, curtailed his social life and he became more reliant on others to assist him. Gavin acted for a claimant who was injured whilst driving an HGV lorry. The incident required the claimant to be airlifted to hospital. Injuries included damage to both knees causing a persistent burning sensation, swelling and disturbed sleep. He also sustained psychiatric injury and was unable to drive an HGV again.

Mrs M (Personal Injury - County Court)

The case involved a claimant who was injured in a road traffic accident when she was a passenger in her husband’s vehicle. The claimant had to be cut out of the vehicle by the fire service. She sustained injuries to her cervical spine and was later diagnosed with central cord syndrome. She required adaptations to be made to her home.

Gavin was instructed by the claimant having had a dislocated shoulder missed by staff at A&E. The claimant was advised it was a soft tissue injury and was discharged. He later had an MRI scan which revealed the dislocated shoulder. The claimant went on to have surgery. It was argued that, had the dislocation been seen earlier, the claimant would have avoided the need for surgery.

Gavin acted for a claimant who sustained spinal injury as a result of a road traffic accident. Despite having pre-existing injuries of ankylosing spondylitis, it was argued that the road traffic accident exacerbated/accelerated the symptoms by a number of years.

The claimant, who was a serving police offer, was injured as a result of being knocked off her bicycle. She sustained an avulsion fracture of the lateral tibial plateau of her left knee and went on to develop DVT, was diagnosed with an Adjustment disorder, sustained cuts and abrasions to her face and had to undergo dental treatment, including root canal treatment, on her UL2 and UL3 teeth.
