Rico Dexiades

Rico is a Partner in the Dispute Resolution department.

Rico has built up considerable experience in advising clients on international and domestic commercial litigation disputes and arbitration. He has handled, and continues to handle, proceedings in the Court of Appeal, the Chancery and King’s Bench Divisions (including the Commercial Court and Business and Property Court) of the High Court, which are often complex, high value and include a multi-jurisdictional element.

Rico brings a focus on trying to get a commercial solution that is quick, keeps legal costs down as much as possible whilst also providing clear and frank advice on both the strategies available to his clients, and the implications. This approach allows the focus to then be on obtaining the best available result for his clients. Rico has been described by his clients as tenacious in looking after their legal interests and delivering innovative solutions.

At the first attempt, securing undertakings from the Defendant to refrain from making any further harassing, intimidating and defamatory statements, or from trespassing on the college’s premises in the future.

Representing a leading construction company

To pursue defamation proceedings and securing undertakings from the Defendant to cease and desist from making any further harassing, intimidating or defamatory statements, together with an apology to the directors of our client.

Acting for a Claimant to stop and unmask the perpetrators behind a campaign of online harassment via Facebook

Successfully obtaining an urgent injunction to stop the harassment and secure the details of the perpetrator behind the campaign of harassment. Subsequently assisting the Crown Prosecution Service with the information gathered from the civil matter, to pursue criminal proceedings against the perpetrators.

Successfully resisting winding up proceedings commenced against a leading construction company

Acting for the Defendant in a professional negligence claim in respect of alleged negligent tax advice

With the pleaded quantum running to many millions of pounds. Successfully defended the claim at trial which was subsequently appealed to the Court of Appeal and Supreme Court.

Representing a leading housing association in the South East of England

In respect of prospective breach of contract proceedings, and negotiating a successful settlement.

Acting for the successful Respondent in a multi-million pound international arbitration

Involving allegations of breach of contract and bad faith.

Acting for the creditor company in recovering a portfolio of debts from hundreds of debtors

Involving the use of many different enforcement methods most appropriate and effective.

Acting for the Respondents to defend unfair prejudice proceedings

Brought by the Petitioner in the Business and Property Courts of the High Court of Justice. Successfully assisted our clients to negotiate a full and final resolution of the proceedings, by means of ADR, resulting in a clean break between the parties that seeks to avoid any satellite disputes arising in the future.

Education

Rico obtained an Honours Degree in Law and completed the Legal Practice Course at a London University in 2012. Rico went on to join a niche Dispute Resolution firm where he completed his training contract and was admitted as a solicitor in 2014. Rico is also fluent in written and spoken Greek.
