Simon Mitchell

Simon is a Partner in the firm and heads up the Wills, Estate and Tax Planning team. His specialisms and expertise are: tax planning, wills, trusts, administration of estates and Powers of Attorney.

Simon is a member of both the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners and also the Association of Lifetime Lawyers.

  • Advising on Inheritance Tax planning during lifetime and post-death arrangements
  • Advising on the preparation of wills, particularly for estate planning and asset protection purposes and also for succession planning for families and companies
  • Advising on the creation, administration and termination of trusts
  • Advising on the preparation of Lasting Powers of Attorney for property and finances as well as health and welfare, together with powers of attorney for business owners
  • Administering estates, including those with foreign elements and/or agricultural or business assets.

Education

Simon read History at De Montfort University where he obtained an honours degree and completed his post graduate studies including the Legal Practice Course at the College of Law, Guildford.

Simon trained at a regional firm in East Sussex and qualified as a solicitor in 1998. Simon joined Thomson Snell & Passmore in 2018 and became the head of the Wills, Estate and Tax Planning team in 2022.
