We were instructed by the UK subsidiary of a leading international retail group, in connection with a claim which was brought by one of its customers. The claim arose from a supply contract entered into almost a decade ago.
We helped our client to resist the claim, and advance a counterclaim, running various technical arguments based contract, common law, and relevant statutory and regulatory provisions.
As a result of the approach we adopted concerning the disputed issues, and the negotiations we conducted with the customer’s legal team, our client was able to tender for and successfully secure the renewal of its trading relationship with the customer, during the course of the dispute. This provided a catalyst for a global, confidential settlement of all of the disputed matters between the parties.
