Mark Politz

Mark is a Solicitor and Chartered Tax Adviser, specialising in wills, trusts, tax and estate planning. He has been advising individuals, families, trustees and executors on these matters for over 30 years.

Mark joined Thomson Snell & Passmore in December 2001.

  • Estate planning, including the preparation of complex wills and advice relating to lifetime gifts.
  • Tax planning, including advice on all aspects of inheritance tax
  • Tax advice for executors and trustees, and assisting our Probate team on complex estates, including those with overseas assets and business/agricultural interests
  • Post-death tax planning, particularly involving Deeds of Variation, which have resulted in significant tax savings
  • Advising on the creation, administration and termination of trusts, including tax implications.
  • Succession planning for business owners
  • Powers of Attorney.

Achievements & other appointments

Mark is a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation, which is the leading body in the UK for taxation professionals. Membership of the CIOT is by examination, which is nationally recognised as the gold standard of UK tax education.

Mark is named in the Citywealth Leaders List.

He has written articles for various publications, including Taxation magazine and Trusts & Estates Tax Journal.

Education

Mark graduated from the University of Bristol with a 2.1 degree in Law. He achieved first class honours in the Law Society final examinations.

Mark trained at a City firm and qualified as a solicitor in 1992.He also passed the Chartered Institute of Taxation examinations in 1997.
