Leading South East law firm Thomson Snell & Passmore has appointed banking and finance specialist Katya Batchelor as a senior associate in its Corporate and Commercial department, to further expand its offering to clients.
Katya will work closely with colleagues across the corporate and commercial and property finance teams, dealing with a wide range of work including acquisition finance, asset based lending, debt finance, bonds and loan notes, guarantees, secured lending, inter-creditor and subordination arrangements and LMA documentation.
With over 15 years of corporate experience practicing in large city and Magic Circle law firms in London, Germany and Russia, Katya brings with her extensive expertise in managing complex commercial projects. She spent six years at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, followed by three years at Clifford Chance in Germany. Most recently she acted as a professional support lawyer for first Berwin Leighton Paisner and then Osbourne Clarke.
During her career to date, Katya has structured global banking projects, ensuring maximum tax and cost efficiency, advised banks in bidding processes, drafted and negotiated credit and security documentation, representing both banks and institutional borrowers, and drafted and negotiated documentation relating to refinancings and restructurings.
Katya has also led the project management of a range of complex acquisition finance transactions from initial assessment of risks and costs to successful completion on time and on budget, and led the project management of finance due diligence and treasury function of corporate mergers.
