The Food and Drink Networking Club met, albeit virtually, for its latest meeting on 14 January 2021 welcoming new and old members to discuss some of the inevitable challenges as well as opportunities for its community.
The ambition of the Food and Drink Networking Club’s members was displayed by James Morris, who is currently in the process of renovating a premises on the Pantiles with a view of opening his restaurant, The Vintry, later this year! In the meantime, with his marketing experience, he is also exploring further ways to expand the profile of the city in the future. Keeping the plates spinning, James has also established Chefs for Foodies (https://chefsforfoodies.com/), which is a platform that provides recipe boxes and live cooking classes from top chefs.
On the menu was also a summary from Matthew Sankey of the efforts to keep the interests of the Food and Drink Networking Club’s community on top of the political agenda, including recent discussion with MPs, the availability of grants and the push for a new minister for hospitality.
As a last course, the session concluded with a Q&A session held by Ben Stepney of Thomson Snell & Passmore. He fielded questions on a range of employment matters and also explored the question of whether employers can require their employees to be vaccinated.
