  • Overview

The Ministry of Justice has announced a refund scheme for Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPA) and Enduring Powers of Attorney (EPA) application fees paid between 1 April 2013 and 31 March 2017. If you registered an LPA or EPA made in England and Wales between those dates you are probably entitled to between £45 and £54 per power plus 0.5% interest. This also applies to repeat application fees.

Either donor or attorney can claim but the refund must be paid to the donor’s bank account.

To claim your refund, please visit: gov.uk, power of attorney refund.

Note that you must claim by phone if:

    • the donor doesn’t have a UK bank account
    • the donor has died
    • you are a court-appointed deputy.

Details of the refunds helpline are as follows:

    Email: poarefunds@justice.gsi.gov.uk

    Textphone: 0115 934 2778

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 9am to 5pm
